On July 31st, Mitsubishi Motors unveiled the exterior design of the new compact SUV, which will make its world debut at the 30th Indonesia International Auto Show (August 10th to 20th. The vehicle will be produced at Mitsubishi Motors Kurama Yudah Indonesia (located in Bekasi, West Java) and is scheduled to go on sale in November 2023. https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1520412.html
 
Had veel liever gezien dat deze auto hier als nieuwe ASX op de markt was gekomen. Maar de auto zal op het gebied van veiligheid (en emissienormen) niet aan de Europese eisen voldoen. De Australiërs moeten het nog steeds doen met de antieke (echte) ASX en krijgen deze auto om die reden ook niet.

Voor Mitsubishi-begrippen (wat toegegeven niet veel zegt) is dit wel een coherent ontwerp. Grappig dat de koplampen en achterlichten bijna dezelfde vorm hebben.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereafter, Mitsubishi Motors) debuted its all-new Xforce compact SUV at the 2023 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show. Net zoals vele andere merken is Europa nauwelijks interessant qua winstmarge. Vraag me af wie er nog wel dikke marges maakt hier, daar hoor je enorm weinig over. Mitsubishi is enorm concern al weet ik niet of autofabrieken er nog onderdeel van uitmaken. Maar winst draaien ze elders, dat is volstrekt duidelijk. Rebadge Renaults is laatste poging, kunnen ze nog s een Japans modelletje tussendoor gooien als t economisch wat lijkt. Anders einde verhaal

De auto is primair voor ontwikkelingsmarkten in Zuidoost-Azië bedoeld en is er voorlopig alleen met stuur rechts, atmosferische 1.6 benzinemotor (hoge BPM, magere prestaties) en voldoet waarschijnlijk niet aan de Europese emissie- en veiligheidsnormen. Zelfs Australië krijgt binnenkort de Captur-rebadge als nieuwe ASX. Mitsubishi test de Xforce nu geloof ik wel in Taiwan voor lokale productie, een linksgestuurde markt.
