At the Touareg’s global launch, Volkswagen announced that “at least 10 further SUVs [are] planned for the Chinese market by 2020.”
In recent years, demand for SUVs and crossovers has boomed throughout the world, particularly in China. As a matter of fact, forecasts from China suggest that every second new car in the country could soon be an SUV. Volkswagen isn’t wasting any time in making the most of this demand, announcing that four of these promised SUVs will arrive in China this year.
A second SUV was also previewed during the Touareg event, dubbed the ‘Powerful Family SUV’ and finished in silver. It is essentially a smaller version of the Atlas and has been developed by SAIC-VW.
